A Gangnam Station sharing table for four people who do not want to give up either pasta or rice

Three Western tables where you pick and share meat, noodles, and rice with different sauces

When four people gather to choose a menu, there are those who want noodles and those who must have rice. Rather than having one person compromise to stick to a single category, I prefer a meal where everyone finds their favorite flavor from dishes chosen together.

I chose tables where you place pilaf next to steak, choose omurice and pasta together, or add steak and noodles to gnocchi. The combinations below are not a fixed order quantity for four people, but a starting point for picking flavors to share together. I want to match the portion sizes and tastes to our four people.

Placing noodles and rice beside meat broadened our preferences

The steak was tender and had great juices. The shrimp oyster pasta had a rich sauce that paired well with the shrimp, and the mushroom bacon pilaf was savory and nutty, keeping me reaching for more. Even if the dining companions have different preferences for meat, rice, and noodles, I like that this combination leaves no need to give up any of them.

There was also the delight of eating cube steak pilaf alongside vongole and steak. Rather than just continuing to eat steak, having rice and noodles in between made the flavors taste different. If four people were choosing, rather than setting down four plates of the same dish, I would want everyone to first speak up about the kind of food they want to eat.

Enjoying the nuttiness of rosé together with the umami of pilaf

The shrimp rosé pasta was smooth and nutty, and the kimchi mushroom bacon pilaf left behind a lingering savory flavor. The meal where I enjoyed thick carbonara risotto alongside steak was also lovely. On a sharing table, rather than choosing only similar sauces, I find it more interesting when the tastes of the rice and noodles feel distinctly different.

The pane pasta had a rich and nutty sauce that tasted wonderful when eaten with the bread. Depending on whether pasta, risotto, or pilaf appeals more today, the mood of the table will change too. Rather than just having many menu items, I liked that you could see combinations you would want to eat together.

The more we share, the more we think about spiciness and portions separately

The shrimp oyster pasta was on the spicier side even when made less spicy. I also experienced the risotto feeling about as spicy as Shin Ramyun. When food is meant to be shared by several people, I would not decide based solely on one person’s standard for spicy flavor. I want to first discuss together how to split the mild sauces and spicy dishes.

The restaurant was spacious and airy, making it comfortable to place multiple plates down and converse. However, I would not simply take an order that filled other people up and treat it as the exact right portion for four people. It felt better to pick the types we want to eat and then combine them to fit everyone’s appetite.

Leaving omurice for whoever wants rice

The omurice was tender and the pasta sauce paired well, making them great to eat together. When heading out for Western food, I do not want to cater only to those who love noodles. If someone craving rice can also pick their preference, it feels much more comfortable to start the meal.

The Western menu was varied, so although I went wanting pasta, I was also thoroughly satisfied with the omurice. There was a delight in having another dish leave a wonderful impression beside the one I had anticipated. If four people gather, I would love to choose the plates we want to eat together in this way.

Thick cream and spiciness stand out more clearly when shared

The spicy cream pasta had a thick sauce with a kick of heat, so it did not feel merely heavy. It offered a different texture from the soft omurice or the sando. On a sharing table, rather than just filling the spread with various menu names, I prefer combinations where the actual flavors and textures feel distinct.

The crab meat risotto and wide-noodle carbonara felt distinctive. The rosé pasta was also a dish I enjoyed eating. Beyond being able to choose both rice and pasta, there was fun in thinking about which sauces and noodles to have.

An atmosphere well suited for enjoying multiple dishes while conversing

It was great to eat while chatting comfortably in a cozy, clean atmosphere. A meal where I chose pasta and risotto with a friend felt satisfying in both flavor and portion. Even at a table for four people, rather than just having a variety of plates, I hope the spot where we sit together to enjoy the food feels comfortable.

I would not turn the memory of a nice atmosphere and good food into a set order for four people. Even with the same rice and noodle combination, it depends on who you are with and how much you eat. When a place is needed where rice lovers and pasta lovers can choose together, Eulji Darak comes to mind.

Brivit Gangnam Station

A spot to select multiple textures together, from pasta and risotto to nutty gnocchi

Adding gnocchi to pasta transformed the table

The vongole pasta had generous Manila clams, and the corn gnocchi was delightfully nutty and creamy. Adding the crispness of fried eggplant made eating each plate a distinct pleasure. Even in a gathering where we want both rice and noodles, I prefer not being bound solely to those two, finding one more different texture to share together instead.

The salmon steak pasta paired well with ragù sauce, while the gnocchi sauce left a completely different impression. If four people are choosing together, rather than overlapping with only cream dishes, picking different sauces and textures would be much more enjoyable.

The meal enjoying pasta topped with rabbit-shaped cheese together with risotto was delicious as well. When someone in the group wants rice, rather than compromising with gnocchi or meat instead, I want to choose risotto alongside them to preserve the option everyone desires. With the textures of noodles, rice, and gnocchi all differing, sharing them together would be fun too.

Tender steak and drinks tailored to personal taste

The steak was tender and went well with the sauce. Eating porcini shrimp gnocchi alongside the signature steak and pairing it with grapefruit ade made for a lovely meal. Even when sharing among multiple people, rather than everyone settling on the exact same setup, I like a table where the food and drinks each person wants to enjoy are set down together.

Eating the pasta topped with rabbit-shaped cheese alongside steak was also satisfying. The pretty food and cozy space lingered in memory. I want to imagine a table where those craving rice choose risotto, sharing meat and gnocchi alongside it.

Allowing leeway in meeting time just like the dishes to share

When going early with friends, we entered without waiting, but there were also times when we wrote our names down and waited about thirty minutes until being called. On days when four people gather, I want to leave room in our meeting time just as much as when choosing the menu. If a meal is set up so that it works only by sitting down right away, the mind becomes rushed from the moment waiting begins.

I would think of Brivit on days when, alongside pasta and risotto, I want to share dishes with different textures like gnocchi and steak. If we voice the kinds of dishes we like and arrange different sauces and textures, the joy of a gathering for several people will be even greater.

If you want to place meat, rice, and noodles all on one table, choose Cozy House; if you crave a gentle combination of omurice, pasta, and risotto, choose Eulji Darak first. On days when you want to share gnocchi and steak alongside noodles and risotto, Brivit is a great fit.

Sharing among four people feels less like deciding on the number of plates first and more like gathering the flavors everyone wants to eat. Without giving up noodles or rice, I hope it is a table where we first talk about the dishes we truly want to enjoy together.
