Three spots chosen by looking at solo seating, full meal trays, clear broth, and Western-style plates

Just because I am dining alone does not mean I want to brush off my meal carelessly. Even so, it makes me hesitate when every dish I crave requires ordering for at least two people, or when I feel self-conscious the moment I sit down. I find myself searching for a seat where I can sit comfortably alone and enjoy food that feels like a real meal.
I chose a meal where you can have jjageuli as an individual set, a hearty gomtang packed with meat and rice, and even omurice and pasta served on pretty plates. These are three spots I examined not by simply noting that they are good for solo dining, but by looking at how I actually sat, what I ate, and what felt comfortable.

On days when you want an individual tray of jjageuli and want to eat at your own pace

It is nice that you do not need two people to eat this food
It was great being able to enjoy jjageuli as a tidy, individual meal tray. Unlike places where you must order for at least two people, it was easy to choose on my own, and the solo dining space was neatly divided. When what I crave is a stew, I do not want to choose a different menu just because I am alone. I really welcomed this setup.
Many other people were dining alone as well, so I could eat comfortably. It was also wonderful to seek out and enjoy a favorite jjageuli whenever the craving returned. I felt that being convenient for solo dining is less about merely having an open seat and more about an atmosphere where it feels natural to sit and savor your food.

A meal tray enjoyed with meat, zucchini, and an egg
I loved that the hot red broth was generously filled with meat and zucchini. Being able to choose the spice level and having it served as an individual meal tray were also convenient. Even when eating alone, a meal feels truly satisfying to me only when I can enjoy both the ingredients and the rice together, not just the broth.
It was also great that the meat-packed jjageuli came with a fried egg and offered the option to add half a serving of ramen noodles. There were times, however, when the broth felt a bit sparse, which was a pity. Your impression might vary slightly depending on whether you want a jjageuli packed with solid ingredients or prefer to enjoy plenty of broth.

Consider both the seating comfort and the actual crowd
I have pleasant memories of the dining room feeling airy when footpaths did not get tangled up. On the other hand, things became chaotic when multiple inquiries overlapped at the food pickup counter, and there were times when the indoor air felt rather smoky. Rather than expecting it to be calm at all times just because there is solo seating, I keep it in mind as a restaurant where I can comfortably choose an individual jjageuli tray.
When crowds gathered during lunchtime, it sometimes took a little time for the food to come out. Even on days when I eat alone, I do not like cutting my mealtime too short. On days when I crave piping hot jjageuli and rice, I will choose it with a bit of time to spare.

Hearty solo dining with clear broth, generous meat, and a choice of side dishes

It was great that the meat and rice were plentiful even when dining alone
The broth was clean, and there was plenty of meat and scallions, so I left feeling full. Even with a meal consisting of just one bowl eaten alone, both the portion and the taste were satisfying. Rather than settling for a small snack just because I am eating solo, I like leaving with the feeling that I had a proper meal of rice and meat.
The water dropwort gomtang was fragrant and refreshing, and the meat was tender. The seasoned pollack served on the side was also a treat, so there was the joy of choosing what I wanted to eat even on my own. While having just one bowl is great, I also liked being able to add a little something that sounded good that day.

Choosing your side dishes also changes the taste of the bowl
Beyond kimchi, you could bring extra side dishes such as seasoned perilla leaves, dried radish strips, and simmered black beans. Rather than simply alternating between a spoonful of broth and meat, I enjoy a meal paired with side dishes along the way. Even without ordering a massive spread, the simple pleasure of having a meal was ample.
The toryeom-warmed rice had absorbed the broth nicely, and having sliced rice cakes to eat was also enjoyable. The clear broth, tender meat, and rice came together harmoniously instead of tasting separate. There was a clear reason this place would come to mind on days when I crave warm Korean food by myself.

Attentive service that makes solo diners feel at ease
When I visited alone, I appreciated that they guided me comfortably to a seat and provided kind service. During an after-work meal, thoughtful little touches like offering a hair tie and a phone stand left an impression as well. When there is service like this, I feel much less pressured to rush through my solo meal.
I enjoyed the ease of finishing a bowl at my own pace in a spacious, clean dining room. Rather than a dish that must be shared with someone else, I will think of Geumnyeong Gomtang first on days when I want to pick warm rice and soup that I personally crave.

When you do not want to put off the pleasure of a Western dish just because you are alone

Dining alone felt completely comfortable even in a cozy setting
I went there to eat alone, and because it was clean and cozy, there was no burden in dining solo. The food was delicious and the plating was pretty, leaving me well satisfied. I do not like thinking of an atmospheric Western restaurant as a place you can only visit when you have plans with someone. It was delightful to enjoy a favorite plate even on a solo dining day.
Among the dates and family meals, I could also spot people eating alone. I liked the feeling that there was both a spacious interior and seating that felt welcoming for solo guests. I prefer places with a comfortable mood where you can simply enjoy a meal just like any other customer.

Whether you crave soft rice or feel like pasta
The omurice was soft, and the pasta was delicious with sauce that paired well. On days when I go alone, rather than forcing myself to pick multiple plates, I prefer to decide first whether I feel like rice or crave noodles today. Having memories of enjoying both types here, I can easily choose according to my mood that day.
The crab risotto and the carbonara with broad noodles were also distinctive. Rather than sticking only to the most familiar menu item just because I am alone, I want to leave room for the fun of picking whichever Western dish I crave next time.

The pleasure of enjoying a pretty plate as your own meal
The spicy cream pasta had a thick sauce with a kick of heat, so it never felt overly heavy. The soft textures of the omurice and katsu sando were lovely too. Rather than defining certain dishes specifically for solo dining, what matters to me is whether I can comfortably eat the flavors I want today. On days when I crave a Western-style plate, I will think of Euljidarak.

If you want piping hot jjageuli as an individual meal tray, 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli is great; if you want to fill up hearty with clear broth, rice, and meat, Geumnyeong Gomtang is a fine choice. If you want to enjoy a Western plate in a pretty space today, I would pick Euljidarak.
On days when I eat alone, I still want to choose my food just as thoughtfully as on days with appointments. Choosing the dish I want from a seat where I do not feel self-conscious, and enjoying it deliciously to the end at my own pace, is all I need from a meal.
