Two spots with thoughtful service adjusting grilling and eating pace, tasty accompaniments, and satisfying final courses

When gathering at a barbecue restaurant, someone often finds it hard to let go of the tongs. Even while talking, they keep flipping the meat, checking if it is cooked, and looking over at their companions’ plates. On days when everyone meets up, I welcome a meal where we spare the grilling effort and enjoy the food at the same time.
I did not pick them merely for the convenience of having someone grill for us. I selected two restaurants that were genuinely satisfying all the way from the meat’s texture, the harmony of side dishes and sauces, to the final rice and broth. Since a place comfortable for grilling can be different from one comfortable for lingering, I also kept in mind the less satisfying moments during our visits.

A spot to leave the grilling and eating pace to the staff, rounded off with pot rice

The meal was comfortable because we did not have to grill ourselves
The staff grilled the meat, which made it wonderful to focus on eating. Even during a meal eating ribs while looking after a child, it was comfortable not having to handle the grilling as well. I feel this difference is especially significant on days when several people gather. Instead of just one person delaying their meal, everyone gains the room to eat together.
The tender ribs and juicy fresh ribs tasted great too. I find myself choosing a place again only when a genuinely tasty meat experience accompanies the benefit of someone grilling for us. I was also pleased that our hands kept reaching for the side dishes during a family gathering.

Garlic sauce and side dishes transform the meat’s flavor
The garlic sauce left an impression because it was slightly different from other barbecue spots. Even when eating the same meat, the enjoyment varied depending on which sauce and accompaniment paired with it. Rather than just eating plenty of meat alone, I find it tastier to the very end when shifting the combinations little by little with side dishes.
The pot rice paired nicely with dried seaweed and seasoned sauce. The portions of side dishes were well-measured from the start, so it was convenient not having to ask for refills constantly while eating. Enjoying rice and side dishes alongside the meat made the gathering meal feel even more hearty and memorable.

Balancing a comfortable meal with lingering time
During a family birthday meal, sitting in a private room created a nice sense of dining just among ourselves, and the meat, rice, and side dishes were all delicious. For a gathering, I pay attention to whether these three elements satisfy together just as much as flashy meat photos.
Still, there were moments of disappointment in the evening when explanations of dining time limits, additional ordering, and the wrap-up process felt less than seamless. Having the meat grilled for you does not automatically guarantee plenty of time for conversation. While I would pick Dojeong Yukkwan for a gathering to spare the grilling effort and enjoy a tasty meal, I would think of it separately from a place meant for sitting a long time.

Bongwoo Yicheungjip
A table remembered for temperature-checked grilling, generous accompaniments, and seafood broth

Grill temperature care made dining easy with companions
They carefully monitored the grill pan temperature while cooking, allowing me to dine comfortably with my companions. The pork neck retained its juices nicely, and it was a relief not having to check on the meat’s doneness constantly myself. At a barbecue gathering, I like it best when the ease of leaving the grilling to the staff pairs with the genuinely delicious grilled texture that lingers.
Savoring the Ibérico pork neck was enjoyable as well. Beyond just the meat, the side dishes came out generously, giving the feel of a full, bountiful spread. When several people gather, this is the restaurant that comes to mind on days when we want everyone to share plates together rather than assigning tongs to just one person.

The seafood broth alongside the meat also left an impression
The blue crab soup served as a default was refreshing, and adding ramen noodles was also tasty. Adding broth in the middle of eating meat brought a welcome change of pace to the meal. When picking a venue for a gathering, I end up remembering accompaniments like this just as long as the main meat course.
The hangari scissor naengmyeon felt distinctive and enjoyable. While transitioning from meat to cold noodles is familiar, the final dish here comes back to mind. Choosing this place with companions who want to eat noodles after meat offers even more to enjoy.

Spacious tables were nice, though not entirely smoke-free
The tables were spacious and the gaps between seats were not too cramped, making it easy to set down multiple plates while eating meat. The side dishes and sauces were varied, so pairing them together tasted wonderful. On days gathering with friends, I place high value on having this kind of room at the table.
However, there was an experience of disappointment when the chairs and tables felt sticky and the smoke did not clear easily. Just because there is the comfort of staff grilling for you, I would not think of it as a restaurant completely free of odors or smoke concerns. It is best chosen on days when you want to gather to enjoy meat and accompaniments.

If you want tender ribs accompanied by delicious pot rice and side dishes, Dojeong Yukkwan comes to mind; if you wish to enjoy temperature-checked grilling alongside seafood broth and naengmyeon, Bongwoo Yicheungjip stands out.
At a barbecue gathering, I treasure the memory of spending time eating together with my companions far more than who grilled how well. I want to choose a place that pairs the comfort of entrusting the grilling with meat and a concluding course that fit together seamlessly.
